What is a Beach Blanket?

Who doesn’t love the beach, right? It is the best way to spend your free time. Whether alone or with your family, a day at the beach is always a lovely experience. For most of us, sitting on the sand while enjoying the soothing waves and radiating sun may be the perfect definition of relaxation. Except, sometimes, we just want to enjoy the view and the atmosphere without really getting ourselves covered in beach sand. That’s where the beach blanket comes in. By Definition, a beach blanket is a blanket that one sits or lies on at the beach. It can also be referred to as a beach mat. When we come across the term, we tend to think of the traditional blanket we normally use to shield ourselves from cold especially when sleeping. A beach blanket does not share any similarity with that blanket. On the contrary, it is a lightweight, waterproof, sand proof blanket that mostly comes in a compact carry pouch. It is designed with exceptional materials to help achieve portability, efficiency, an

Rumpl's Road Trips

Music blasting. Windows down. Rumpl in the backseat. Road trip season is here and after a year of staying close to home, we can’t wait to hit the open road (responsibly of course). To celebrate a year of more road trips, we asked team Rumpl about the most epic trips they’ve been on, their next dream road trip, and what must-have Rumpl gear they recommend for the ride. Jacob - Customer Experience Specialist BEST ROADTRIP: I started 2021 off right by helping move one of my best friends (and now roommate!) from Austin, TX up to Portland. We spent ten days on the road. We camped 8/10 nights and made stops in: The Davis Mountains White Sands National Park Saguaro National Park Joshua Tree National Park Sequoia National Park Kings Canyon National Park Yosemite National Park and Redwood National Park. There are few things as sobering and mind-blowing as getting out and exploring our beautiful world! If you want recommendations, email me: jacob@rumpl.com ROADTRIP MU

Meet RAD Artist Mel Kadel

THE BASICS   Name: Mel Kadel Residence: Los Angeles Occupation: Artist We caught up with artist Mel Kadel to talk about her process, inspiration, and her original piece Dots & Daisies - featured on The Original Puffy 1-Person and Junior sizes, and Beer Blanket as part of this season of the Rumpl Artist Division. Your work has a vintage feel. What process do you use to get new materials to have the classic, aged look and feel? I would always rip out the blank pages of old books that were super yellowed, and I’d go through all the thrift stores and buy up all the books and tear the sheets out. But that limits. You can only use a little bit of pen, and you can’t use water, and it’s very fragile that way. I wanted something where I could get that same beautiful old tone- you know that soft yellow that has an old-fashioned feel, and I just like the way that matches to bright colors, so to mimic that, I started staining very heavy paper with

Meet RAD Artist Sam Larson

THE BASICS   Name: Sam Larson Residence: Kansas City, Missouri Occupation: Artist We joined RAD artist Sam Larson in his Kansas City, Missouri studio to talk about his love of the West, his work, and his upcoming collaboration with Rumpl –– The Original Puffy - Left Coast When did you start creating art? Was it something you always loved? Art is just something I love to do. I would draw regardless if I was making a cent. I used to do that when I was little. I would draw every single night until I passed out with my head on the paper basically in my bed. Your work often references the American West. Which places, in particular, have served as sources of inspiration? My art’s literally been able to take me all over the US. In San Diego, I had the beach. In Portland, I had the most ridiculous art scene. In Salt Lake City, I had the mountains out my backdoor. The more I traveled the west, the more I just kind of fell in love wi
